Quality for the lifetime of the furniture

Blum3

The function and quality of our products are designed to inspire users. In addition, we attach great importance to top quality services and top quality collaboration with customers, partners and suppliers.

• Blum’s quality cycle starts with monitoring everyday kitchen use all over the world. The results gained provide important information which is incorporated into the development of new products. To safeguard quality, Blum uses computer simulations and tests with prototypes early on in the development process.

• Blum also attaches great importance to quality in the production of fittings. Tools and manufacturing systems are subjected to the same rigorous testing requirements at all plants. Quality assurance measures are further developed to safeguard the high standard of quality.

• Blum’s measures are not only designed to test the quality at the end of the production process. The ongoing checks also contribute decisively towards maintaining the high standard of quality.

• Blum has developed its own testing procedures based on the results of our practical observations. Our products undergo comprehensive motion and load bearing testing procedures.

• In addition, Blum works with renowned external testing institutes and organisations in order to also meet their standards and requirements. Blum is ISO 9001 certified.

• Blum is a reliable partner in terms of customs law. Our business activity includes customs handling for our customers and vendors. To make things easier for both parties, we have been certified as an “Authorised Economic Operator” (AEO-F). This recognition from the European Commission speeds up our business and logistics processes.

Trendsetting Innovations

CLIP, tool-free assembly, feather-light glide, optimal use of storage space, soft-close BLUMOTION and the SERVO-DRIVE electric opening system are all innovations by Blum and milestones in the furniture manufacturing industry. We will continue to be an innovative force in the future. We think of kitchen users and their needs whenever we develop and make our products. Blum is one of the largest patent applicants in Austria and has more than 1,200 registered trademarks today.

Long Term Commitment to Environmental Protection

Blum4

Taking care of the environment and its resources is very important to us. That’s why our efforts to protect the environment have exceeded legal requirements by far – not just for the present but for the many years to come.

The Principles of Our Environmental Policy

“We believe that responsible ecological behaviour has long-term economic benefits. That’s why we implement environmental protection measures in as many business fields as possible.” (Extract from Blum’s orientation statement)

We have been using energy management solutions such as heat recovery systems, building insulation, control systems, ground water cooling, optimised lighting systems, and many other systems, for many years now.

• A substantial amount of deliveries is transported by rail from our own railway sidings in Dornbirn.

• In addition to reusable cardboard packaging, we have been using another environmentally-friendly packaging system for over ten years. The Eco-Pack is a packaging solution that has been specially developed by Blum.

• The environmental management system has been in use since 1997 and has helped systematically improve our environmental performance. Measures are continuously recorded in an environmental programme and implemented. Audits are used to continually monitor compliance and efficacy.

• Blum has ISO 50001 certification. This standard, which is valid worldwide, provides guidelines to help reduce energy costs and greenhouse gases.
